Resurrection Power
We’re amazed by the many opportunities God gives us to practice what we preach.
Judy is in a rotation with her brothers, caring for her mother (turning 94 this summer), and April is her month.
The month got off to a great start, as we hosted a neighborhood Easter party on her mother’s front lawn in Covina, California, the home Judy’s family moved into way back in 1963…63 years ago.
The response to the invitation was wonderful, with about forty in attendance, including children, parents and grandparents.
Children arriving at the party graciously greeted ‘Mrs. Peggy’ on the front porch, and some brought flowers, chocolates and warm hugs. While Peggy’s eyesight and hearing are limited, what a blessing for her to exercise hospitality by opening her life and home to her neighbors.
And what joy these kids bring into our lives!
Judy was blessed to share the true story of Easter with the kids. A Catholic neighbor warmly observed, “Wow, Judy is planting seeds of the Gospel in the hearts of the children!”
Caregiving can be arduous at times, but how rich to invite others in on the action, bringing life and encouragement. Even since the Easter party, young children have returned with warm greetings and a hug for Mrs. Peggy.
Let’s never minimize the role young people, including children, can play in adding life and vitality to those in life’s later chapters. And, of course, let’s maximize the role we can play in pointing people of all ages to Jesus, the source of our hope and joy.
