Signposts

When faced with major decisions, it’s common to look for signposts that might help us as we pray and reflect.

Negative signposts may steer us in one direction, and positive signs may lead us in another.

Later life can present challenges that lead to hard stops, but we know many of us encounter signs suggesting we slow down or perhaps take an alternate route.

Dr. Amy Hanson reminded us in our first Finishing Strong video that these later years are full of both challenges and promise. It’s important to not focus only on the challenges as we look ahead.

For example, my leukemia diagnosis in May came as an unexpected setback, but I remain symptom-free and without treatment—certainly a promising sign. Thank you, Jesus! Right now I/we choose to follow signs of promise.

No regrets! And no shortage of challenges.

We remain confident that the needs YES! addresses have not diminished. Opportunities to strengthen intergenerational ties and build on the serving potential of older adults abound. And we stand ready to tackle whatever comes next.
