Squeezing Potential
A couple recent YES! projects relate to squeezing more potential out of something already done … taking things a step farther.
Tasks like these represent where significant later-life potential lies: not always starting from scratch but building on something already right in front of us. Something that with just a little more effort has the potential to expand or deepen our outreach.
One project we’re undertaking is an author-read, Audible version of my book, Half Two. Since writing the book eight years ago, its relevance hasn’t diminished, but audiobook consumption has boomed, both in popularity and listening time.
Audiobooks have seen double-digit year-over-year growth since Half Two was published in 2017.
We can simply observe trends like this, or better yet, connect the dots, roll up our sleeves and hit the record button!
In another vein, we may have strong opinions about AI, possibly a mixture of marvel and fear. But it’s helpful to not ignore real possibilities for good.
To our knowledge, none of our seven recent Finishing Strong video series presenters are fluent in Spanish, but thanks to AI … we all are now!
We challenge you, too, to think about opportunities right in front of you—that with a little extra intentional effort could touch more lives and/or deepen your impact.
Here's a related idea lived out and passed on to us by Judy’s wonderful dad (with Jesus): If you’re blessed to have grandkids or great grands or nieces/nephews in school, give them a call before their new school year’s first day—to pray a special blessing over them. Simple, building on what’s right in front of us, and hopefully meaningful.
May God continue to bless all of us with creativity and courage—hearts attentive to opportunities right in front of our noses.
